Generative AI Weekly - Feb. 15, 2024
AI evolves: Stable Cascade's local run, Meta's V-JEPA for deeper reasoning, OpenAI's Sora for dynamic video, and Google's expansive Gemini 1.5.
- Stable Cascade launches - you can run it locally on your own computer
- Meta launches V-JEPA - open source with a very cool demo video. (“V-JEPA is a step toward a more grounded understanding of the world so machines can achieve more generalized reasoning and planning,”)
- OpenAI launches its text to video model, Sora. Not yet for consumers but.. rumors abound about the tech behind the hood. Some additional demos here. "The model has a deep understanding of language, enabling it to accurately interpret prompts and generate compelling characters that express vibrant emotions. Sora can also create multiple shots within a single generated video that accurately persist characters and visual style."
- Google launches Gemeni 1.5 - with a context window of 1 million tokens (a ~100x improvement versus standard models) - seems like you can now throw ~10 books into it and still have room to chat!
- OpenAI launches memory ("We’re testing memory with ChatGPT. Remembering things you discuss across all chats saves you from having to repeat information and makes future conversations more helpful.")
